Rasa Shastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana Laboratory

Ayurvedic Pharmacy, Rasaushadhi Preparation & Quality Control

The ata-start="434" data-end="482">Rasa Shastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana Department is one of the most crucial wings of an Ayurveda college. It teaches students the classical and scientific methods of Ayurvedic drug formulation, including herbal, herbo-mineral, and mineral–metallic preparations. According to NCISM norms, every BAMS institution must have a well-equipped, safe, and compliant pharmacy lab where students can practically prepare medicines and understand all aspects of drug manufacturing.

Objectives of the Pharmacy Lab

  • To develop skills for preparing classical Ayurvedic formulations.

  • To demonstrate purification (Shodhana) and incineration (Marana) of metals and minerals.

  • To train students in safe handling of raw materials, heating techniques, and storage conditions.

  • To ensure understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).

  • To perform pharmaceutical quality tests for Ayurvedic medicines.
